| Most of us have probably heard of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and many other famous characters. Perhaps we have even seen them in movies. But have you 1 been to Disneyland? In fact, there are now several different Disneyland amusement parks around the world. Disneyland is an amusement park, but we can also call it a theme park. It has all the normal attractions that you can find at an amusement park, but it also has a theme. The theme, of course, is Disney movies and Disney characters. For example, you can find a roller coaster in most amusement parks, but in Disneyland, the theme of the roller coaster is Disney characters. This means that you can find Disney characters all over the roller coaster. You can also watch Disney movies, eat in Disney restaurants, and 2 Disney gifts. And you can see Disney characters walking around Disneyland all the time! Have you ever 3 a Disney Cruise? These are huge boats that also have the Disney theme. You can 4 a ride on the boat for several days, and you can sleep and eat on board. There are also many attractions on board, just like any other Disneyland. You can shop, go to Disney parties, and eat dinner with Mickey Mouse! The boats take different routes, but they all 5 in the same place. That is Disney's own island. It is just so much fun in Disneyland. | ||||

We were on a visit to Monkey Island. Jim thought we should try water skiing(滑水). We can get a boat and skis at Monkey Island.
"Don't go water skiing near Monkey Island today," said the woman standing near the boats. "There
mig
ht be sharks(鯊魚) in the water."
"I don't think so." said Jim who thought he knew everything.
"I wouldn't go water skiing in the sea near Monkey Island today," said the man with the woman. "They
saw sharks in the water yesterday."
"The sharks won't hurt me," said Jim with a big smile on his face.
Another man getting out of a boat said, "I'm sure we just saw a shark in the water a few
minutes ago."
"Don't worry about me," said Jim. "I don't worry about sharks."
Jim and his two friends, Bill and Bruce pushed the boat into the water. Jim was driving the boat. He
drove very fast and sprayed water on everyone standing near the boat.
Jim drove the boat to the middle of the sea near Monkey Island. Everyone could see him and the boat. He wanted to show everyone how well he could water ski.
"You drive the boat, Bill," Jim said. "Bruce, you watch me and the rope while I water ski."
"What about the sharks?" asked Bill.
"Forget about the sharks," said Jim. "I'm not afraid of sharks."
Jim got into the water. He was putting his feet in the water skis. Then Jim felt something large and hard
touch his leg as it swam past him. Suddenly, a brown fin(鰭) moved through the water towards Jim.
Later, when Bill and Bruce
stopped laughing, they said, "We never saw anyone move so fast! You were running on top of the water to get back in the boat! You even left the water skis in the water.
"There it is again! Shark! Shark!" cried Jim.
Everyone laughed----even the people standing on shore.
The dolphin(海豚) came to surface again, took a deep breath, smiled at Jim and went back down into
the deep water.

You've probably heard of working dogs that help police officers. Or horses that help farmers. Did you know that carrier pigeons can be trained to help people too? Here are some examples.
Mailman
Carrier pigeons can be trained to carry messages to people. The note is placed into a small can. The can is tied to the pigeon's leg. Then the pigeon flies off with the note.
Lifeguard
From high up in the sky, specially trained pigeons can spot orange life jackets in the ocean. Sometimes it is difficult for humans to spot people lost at sea, especially when the weather is bad. However, pigeons can fly quickly over a large area of water to look for people.
Spy
Many years ago, carrier pigeons were used to help our country during wars. "Spy pigeons" had small cameras that were tied to their feet. As a pigeon flew over enemy land, the camera took photos of the land below. This would allow our soldiers to see where the enemies were and what they were doing.
So next time you see a pigeon, stop and watch it closely. What might look like an ordinary bird to most people might actually be helpful.
46. What kind of people can the carrier pigeons find?
A. The people in orange life jackets at sea.
B. The people in red jackets in the boats.
C. The people swimming in the ocean.
D. The people lost in the mountains.
47. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?
A. A pigeon could predict what the weather would be like.
B. A pigeon was tied with a small camera around its leg.
C. A pigeon could help us to know the number of the enemy.
D. A pigeon carried the camera to take photos of the enemy land.
48. What is the purpose of writing this article?
A. To make readers like pigeons more.
B. To teach readers about the lives of wild pigeons.
C. To tell readers about real jobs held by carrier pigeons.
D. To share science fictions about pigeons helping people.

If I ask you to shut your eyes and gave you a piece of apple to eat, would you be able to tell me what it is just by tasting it? Of course, you could. Your tongue is covered with tiny “taste buds” which help you know what different foods taste like. Do you know that foods would taste different if you did not have a nose? This experiment shows how important your nose is when you taste things.
What You Need:
• a friend to help
• small pieces of any food like carrot, orange, banana
• small pieces of apple, raw(生的) potato, and onion
What You Do:
There are actually three different experiments. You and your friend should take turns to try them on each other.
Experiment 1:
Have your friend close her eyes and open her mouth.
Give her a piece of the food and ask her to taste it.
Then, ask her what she thinks it is. She will probably guess correctly.
Experiment 2:
While your friend has her eyes closed, give her a piece of the raw potato. At the same time, hold a piece of apple right under her nose. Ask her to eat the potato (but don’t call it by name) and tell you what she thinks it is. She will say it is a piece of apple!
Experiment 3: (for the brave)
Take a piece of raw onion. You don’t have to close your eyes this time. Squeeze your nose closed with your other hand so that no smells can get into your nose. Now take a nibble of the onion. Surprise! As long as you hold your nose, you will not be able to taste the onion.
The Science Secret
You already know the science secret. Your nose and your tongue work together to make food taste the way it does. Your tongue, however, can taste only certain flavors like salty, bitter, sour, and sweet. All of the other “tastes” are actually “smells,” and you need your nose to “taste” them. Oh, and you might use this science secret the next time you are told to eat something you don’t like the taste of. If you hold your nose while you eat it, you won’t “taste” it at all.
1. According to this article, what could a reader know about food?
A. People hold their noses to eat onions. B. If you can smell potatoes, you will taste apples.
C. People need a sense of smell to taste some food. D. If you close your eyes, food will taste better.
2.What is the most likely reason Experiment 3 is called “for the brave”?
A. You keep your eyes open. B. You have to eat a raw onion.
C. You have to squeeze your nose. D. You do the experiment alone.
3.What’s the best title of the passage?
A. Your Eyes Knows B. Your Nose Knows
C. Your Mouth Knows D. Your Tongue Knows
