An old man lived with his family. The family would eat together nightly at the dinner table. But the elderly grandfather’s shaky hands and failing sight made eating rather difficult. In the kitchen of my mother’s houses there has always been a wooden stand (木架) with a small notepad (記事本)　and a hole for a pencil.
I’m looking for paper on which to note down the name of a book I am recommending to my mother. Over forty years since my earliest memories of the kitchen pad and pencil, five houses later, the current paper and pencil look the same as they always did. Surely it can’t be the same pencil? When a first-time father saw his newborn son, he immediately noticed the baby's ears obviously standing out from his head. Norah has a cottage on a cliff above a big bay. In winter it could be very nasty because of strong winds and sea spray.
