Nowadays, the term " sense of happiness" has been repeatedly mentioned in various medias. During the National Day holidays, CCTV did a nation-wide survey by asking random passers-by the question " Are you happy now? What exactly is happiness in your eyes?" The survey aroused a heated discussion across the country and people from all walks of life expressed their opinions.
" I would say I'm pretty happy at present because my dear daughter has graduated from college and found herself a good job. " said a woman in her fifties with a big smile on her face.
Though it seemed that most people said they were happy, different voices were still heard and should not be ignored. There was a migrant worker(農(nóng)民工) whose answer to the question was widely spread online. When asked if he was happy, he said " My family name is Zeng", showing his determination to refuse the interview as well as his annoyance to mention happiness.
The brand-new Chinese Nobel Prize winner Mo Yan answered " I don't know " in an interview when he was asked the same question: Are you happy?

Adults are often surprised by how well they remember something they learned as children but have never practised in the meantime. A man who has not had an opportunity to go swimming for years can 1 swim as well as ever when he gets back in the water. He can get on a bicycle after several decades and still 2 away. A mother who has not 3 the words for years can teach her daughter the poem that begins "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" or recite the story of Cinderella or Snow White.
One explanation is the law of over learning, which can be stated as following: 4 we have learned something, additional learning increases the 5 of time we will remember it.
In childhood, we usually continue to practise such skills as swimming, bicycle riding long after we have learned them. We continue to listen to and 6 ourselves of poems such as "Twinkle, twinkle, little star" and childhood tales such as Cinderella or Snow White. We not only learn but __7 .
The law of over learning explains why cramming (突擊學習) for an examination, 8 it may result in a passing grade, is not a 9 way to learn a school course. By cramming, a student may learn the subject well enough to get by on the examination, but he is likely soon to forget almost everything he learned. A little over learning, 10 , is usually a good investment toward the future.

(D)
You can not see any object unless light from that object gets into your eyes. Some of the things you see give off light of their own. The sun, the stars, a lighted lamp are examples that can be seen by their own light. Such things are luminous. Most of the things you see are not giving off light of their own. They are simply reflecting light that falls on them from the sun or some other luminous bodies. The moon, for example, does not give off any light of its own. It is non-luminous. You see it because sunlight falls on it and some of it reflects in our direction. So moon light is only second hand sunlight.
When you look at a book, it sends to your eyes some of the light which falls on it, and you see the book. If light could be kept out from where you are so that there would be no light for the book to reflect, then you could not see the book even with your eyes wide open.
Light travels so fast that the time in which it travels from the book you are reading to your eyes is so short as if there were no time at all. Light reaches us from the moon, which is about 380 000 kilometers away, in only a little more than a second.
1.You can see the book because_______.
A.your eyes are close to it B.it reflects some of the sunlight
C.it has light of its own D.your eyesight can get to it
2.The underlined word “l(fā)uminous” means_______.
A.visible B.a(chǎn)ll colors C.giving off light D.sunlight
3.________ have light of their own.
A.The sun and the moon B.The stars and the earth
C.The sun and the stars D.The moon and the earth
4.Which of the following is true?
A.All the things you can see give off light.
B.Light from the book is much shorter than that from the moon.
C.The moment you open your eyes the light from the book travels to your eyes.
D.Light travels so fast that there is no time for you to read.

Hi, I am Mike. I just went through my first year of college. The toughest part on me at first was the general adjustment.1 went to a very small high school where my mom was a teacher and she did practically everything for me. But at the college I needed to know some basic life skills. such as balancing a check—book, laundry, and the things you have to be able to handle that I never thought of in the high school! It was really tough for me at first and I got badly homesick.
Once that first semester was over and I got used to the college life, I loved it—good facilities, helpful instructors. and a good library. The Students’ Union organizes various parties every week. I also go to cinemas and concerts, and often spend Saturday nights in pubs and clubs.
One thing I think is important is to get yourself active in things. I was on the dance team in college and met a ton of people that way ··· it was so much easier to make friends when you had a common ground.
