The Chang’e-3, named after a Chinese goddess, is China’s first spacecraft(航天器)to make a soft landing on the moon. It includes a lander and a moon rover(月球車) called Yutu. The Chang’e-3 spacecraft is the second phase(階段) China’s lunar rogramme, which includes orbiting, landing and returning to Earth. It follows the success of the Chang’e-1 and Chang’e-2 spacecraft in 2007 and 2010. The launch of Chang’e-3 was successful.
