This is a song. Millions of Americans will hear this song on New Year’s Eve. It is called Auld Lang Syne (《友誼天長地久》). It is the traditional music played during the New Year’s celebration.

Auld Lang Syne is an old Scottish poem. It tells about the need to remember old friends. The words “Auld Lang Syne” means “old long since”. No one knows who wrote the poem first. However, a version (版本) by Scottish poet Robert Burns came out in 1796. The words and music we know today first appeared (出現(xiàn)) in a songbook three years later.

The world’s longest high-speed rail line goes through half of China. It began on December 26, 2012.To celebrate the opening of the 2,298 kilometers line, two trains departed（出發(fā)） from stations in Beijing and Guangzhou at 9 a.m. and 10 a.m..
