Although I didn’t have any interest in being a school bus driver, I became one. Many years later, I was still working on the school bus. There are so many good reasons. Firstly, the talk brought me different kinds of information. I also got to hear all the family secrets of the newcomers. I have a toy bear who was a great comforter(安慰者) for the little ones. The kids got to look after him on the trip to school and he waited patiently for them to get on for the trip home.

Our bus would often pass a place where we could see some alpacas (羊駝) in front of a farm house. Little Michael would cry excitedly from the seat, “Look, Miss! Look at the camels!” He used to put his head out of the bus window. When I warned him that a little insect would come into his nose if he wasn’t careful, he smartly gave up the habit.
I remember a little girl got on the bus one morning 5 years ago and sobbed(抽泣) all the way to school. We arrived at the school gate. As she waited to get down the bus, she threw her arms around my neck and cried that her grandfather had died the night before.
A school bus driver needs to keep one eye on the road and the other on the mirror to watch what the little ones are doing down the back.
Now, it’s important to think how many lives I’ve been responsible(負(fù)責(zé)的) for, and how many kilometers I’ve driven in order to get my passengers home safely during the 20 years. I’ve enjoyed it, but it’s time to rest and park my school bus.

Every first lady since Lou Hoover (except Bess Truman) has appeared in the high-fashion magazine, Vogue. But Mrs. Obama is only the second to appear on the cover. However, Mrs. Obama did choose outfits for the Vogue photos from labels(商標(biāo)) she had worn before. “She doesn't need any help. Yesterday I went to the nursing home to visit my grandma. She just got out of the hospital recently where she had some serious operations. I wanted to surprise her after work, so I stopped by for a quick visit.
When I got there, she was happy to see me. We hugged, kissed and exchanged greetings. Then I heard a woman crying. It was my grandma’s roommate. The curtain was drawn so I could not see her. She started calling out a name that wasn’t mine but she was certainly talking to me, begging me to go to her side of the room.
I ignored her at first and continued visiting with my grandma. Then she started begging and saying, “Please, come to see me!” So I went to see her.

Recently the “China dream” has been the subject of a public topic. Although it is quite common for Chinese people to dream of an empowered or a prosperous(繁榮) China, most people also have their own dreams. Throughout China’s thousands of years of history, these “China dreams” have always existed. Do you have a “China dream”? I brought up this topic with several young Chinese students with higher U.S. educational backgrounds. Unsurprisingly, they all had their own heartfelt hopes and dreams for their native country.

Fred Wang, an MBA candidate in the U.S. said, “I dream of equal chance for the young in China. Equality means all young people can compete fairly, based on the rule-of-law no matter whether they are rich or poor.”
Yujie Zhao, another MBA candidate in California said, “I dream of a happy family with an affordable home. I dream of having the best education for my children so they will not lose at the starting line, and I dream of being able to take good care of my parents after they retire(退休).” She said, “It seems like all my dreams are about family, but it is so true for most Chinese young dreamers today.”
Yiqiong Zhang, an MBA graduate from the US shared her dreams. “I have a dream which I have been holding for many years, that is after working hard for about 20 to 25 years, I can have enough money to build and manage a small bookstore or a flower shop. Besides working hard, I am able to enjoy life: to play the piano, to hike and to enjoy a two-month-long vacation every year. This may be a common dream among young Chinese students.”
There is no doubt that all of these young students have their own “China dream”. They all love China, they all love chasing their dreams. Beautiful “China Dream” requires hard work. Everyone should work hard to make their dream come true.
小題1:Which is right about the three young Chinese students?
