Many people are surprised when they find that the Internet was set up in the 1960s. At that time, computers were large and expensive; computers networks didn't work well, if one computer in the network broke down, then the whole network stopped. A new network system had to be set up, because it should be good enough to be used by many different computers. If part of the network was not working, information could be sent through another part. In this way computer network system would keep on working all the time.
At first the Internet was only used by the government, but in the early 1970s, universities, hospitals and banks were allowed to use it too.
However, computers were still very expensive and the Internet was difficult to use. By the start of the 1990s, computers became cheaper and easier to use. Scientists had also developed software that made “surfing” the Internet more convenient.
Today it is easy to get on-line and it is said that millions of people use the Internet every day. Sending E-mail is more and more popular among students.
The Internet has now become one of the most important parts of people's life.

What's your favorite color? Do you like yellow, orange or red? If you do, you must be a person full of hopeful happy feeling about life. Do you like gray and blue? Then maybe you are quiet, and you would rather go after than go before. And sometimes you feel unhappy.
If you love green, you are strong-minded. You wish to do everything well and want other people to see you are successful. At least this is what psychologists tell us. They tell us that we don't choose our favorite colors as we grow up. If you happen to love brown, you did so as soon as you opened your eyes or at least as soon as you could see clearly.
A yellow room makes us feel happier and more comfortable than a dark green one; and a red dress brings warmth and gladness to the saddest winter day.
Light and bright colors make people not only happier but more active. It is a fact that factory workers work better, harder, and have fewer accidents when their machines are painted orange rather than black dark gray.
Remember, then, that if you feel low, you can always brighten your day or your life with a new shirt or a few colorful things.
Remember also that you will know your friends better when you find out what colors they like and dislike. And don't forget that anyone can guess a lot about your character when you choose something in different colors.
1.What can we know from this passage?
We know that one is ________ with his ________ liking.
2.Why is it important for us to choose colors?
Because colors do affect our________ in many ________.
3.When will factory workers have fewer accidents?
When they work on the ________.
4.What does the sentence “I'm feeling blue.” mean?
It means “I ________ made ________.”
5.What does the passage tell us?
It tells us that one's color liking has ________ to do ________ his character.

In England, people often talk about the weather because you can experience four seasons in one day. In the morning the weather is warm just like in spring. An hour later black clouds come, and then it rains hard. The weather gets a little cold. In the late afternoon the sky will clear, the sun will begin to shine; it will be summer at this time of a day.
In England, you can also have summer in winter, or have winter in summer. So in winter you can swim sometimes, and in summer sometimes you should take warm clothes.
When you go to England, you will see that some English people usually take an umbrella or a raincoat with them in the sunny morning, but you should not laugh at them. If you don't take an umbrella or a raincoat, you will regret later in the day.

In the United States, people like inviting their friends to their home for a meal, a party, or often just for coffee and conversation. Americans think it friendlier than to take them to a restaurant. Here are what Americans often say when they invite someone to their home.
“Would you like to come for dinner on Friday night?”
“We are going to have a party on Friday night. Would you like to come?”
Replies are “Thanks, I'd love to. What time?” or “I'm sorry. I'd love to, but I'm going to play tennis with John.” By the way, if the invitation is made with “Will you come?” or “Would you like to come?” It is not polite to say “No, I won't.” or “No, I wouldn't.”
Sometimes Americans use some expressions that sound like invitations, but they are not real ones. For example, “Please come over f~ a cup of coffee sometime.”
“Let's go out for a dinner one of these days.” “Why don't you come and see us sometime soon?”
These are usually just polite ways of ending a conversation. They are not real invitations because they don't tell you a specific day or time. These expressions only mean the man is trying to be friendly and the answers to the expressions are “OK, yes, thank you.” or “Yes, that would be great.”
So next time you hear what sounds like an invitation, listen carefully. Is it a real invitation or is the man just being friendly?
