Different countries and different people have different manners. Here are some examples of things that a person with good manners does or does not do.
If you visit a Chinese family you should knock at the door first. When the door opens, you will not move before the host says “Come in, please.” After you come into the room, you won't sit down until the host asks you to. When a cup of tea is put on a tea table before you or sent to your hand, you will say “Thank you” and receive it with your two hands, or they will think you are not polite.
Before coming into the house in Japan it is good manners to take off your shoes. In European countries, if your shoes become very dirty, this is not done.
In a Malay house, a guest never finishes the food on the table. He leaves a little to show that he has had enough.
In England, guest always finishes a drink or the food to show that he has enjoyed it. This will make the host very pleased.

Thanks for your message. Yes, I'm having a great time on my exchange program in France. It's even better than I thought it would be. I was a bit 1 before I arrived here, but there was no reason to be. My host family is really nice. They go out of their way to make me feel at home. And you wouldn't 2 how quickly my French has improved! I'm very 3 speaking French now. Although I still make lots of mistakes, it doesn't bother me like it used to. My biggest 4 is learning how to behave at the dinner table. As you can imagine, things are really different from the way they are at home. For example, you're not supposed to put your bread on your plate. You're supposed to put it on the table! I thought that was pretty 5 at first, but now I'm used to it. You're not supposed to eat anything with your hands 6 bread, not even fruit! (You have to cut it up and eat it with a fork. ) Another thing is that it is very 7 to say you're full. If you don't want any more food, you should just say, “It was delicious.” Also, it's rude to put your hands in your lap. You should always keep your hands, but not your elbows, on the table. I have to say, I find it 8 to remember everything, but I'm 9 getting used to things, and don't find them so strange 10 . I'll write soon and tell you more about life in France. Hope you're having a good school year.

One summer day a raindrop fell from a cloud. Many other raindrops fell at the same time, but our story is about just one raindrop.
The raindrop fell to the ground on the side of a hill. The water in the raindrop ran down the hill into a little river. The little river carried the raindrop to a big river. Then the raindrop traveled far to the east into the sea. There the water of the raindrop mixed itself with the salt water of the sea.
Now the water of the raindrop was on the surface of the sea. As the sun made it very warm, it changed into steam. The steam left the sea and went up into the air, and it did not carry any salt with it. It had left the salt in the sea.
The steam from the raindrop moved with the warm air towards the north. On the way the warm air met some cold air. The cold air pushed the warm air high above the ground.
The warm air became cool when it went up, and the steam in it changed into very small drops of water again. There were millions and millions of these small drops in the cloud. The small drops came together into bigger and bigger drops. Our raindrop was one of them. Now the drop became so big that it was too heavy to stay in the cloud, and it fell to the ground. In this way the water of our raindrop, started traveling to the sea again.

Seven out of ten people in Britain get married at some time in their lives, and there are two ways to get married. You can have a religious wedding ceremony (宗教式婚禮) (Christian, Muslim, Hindu, etc.) in a place that is registered for marriages, or a registrar (登記員) can marry you in a civil ceremony (法律形式) without any religious content.
It is quite easy to arrange (安排) a civil ceremony. You can get a special license and get married in about three days. The bride and groom are usually over eighteen, but people can marry at sixteen with their parents' permission (允許). You need two witnesses at the ceremony who are over eighteen and who speak and understand English. There are no rules about clothes, so the bride and groom can wear anything. They can also choose their own music-even pop music. Some people like to read or listen to poetry, but most people only use the legal words of the ceremony. Whatever sort of ceremony people have, there is usually a reception afterwards. This is a party, often with a meal, for family and friends.
閱讀上文,回答以下提問(wèn):
1.How many types of wedding ceremony are talked about?
2.How old you have to be to get married in Britain?
3.Who have to be at the wedding ceremony?
4.What happens after the ceremony?
5.Are there any rules about the clothes that people wear at weddings?
