　　If you visit London nowadays，you will see a lot of buses and cars on the road，you will also see a lot of bikes because nowadays more and more people travel by bike．

　　There are a lot of reasons for this．First，it’s very cheap to use a bike，and it’s quick too．You often wait for a bus for half an hour．When the bus comes，there are so many other buses and cars on the roads that the bus moves very slowly．The underground train is quick but very expensive and often crowded．

　　I traveled to work by bus for about four years．I often arrived at work late，and tired．Then one day，about two years ago，a colleague said，“I go to work by bike，why don’t we travel together？”

　　“Because my bike’s old，”I answered，“and there are so many buses and cars on the road．I will feel frightened…”

　　Although we went slowly，we arrived at work quickly．The bus ride took forty minutes and the bike ride took half an hour!

　　The next day I bought myself a new bike．Now I don’t feel afraid．I love cycling to work．I take a different road every day．I arrive at work very quickly．I’ve got a little more money now，and very important，I feel fit and well．

　　Many people think in the same way as I do．That’s why you see a lot of bikes on the road．Who knows，perhaps in the future we’ll have roads for bicycles only．I hope so!

　　Robert had just moved into the street and he felt strange and that he was not wanted．He knew that perhaps the other boys were trying to get an idea of what kind of a boy he was．This did not help to make him less lonely．He was new and he had to be tested(考驗(yàn))．Still，proving(證明) himself would not be all that easy． He did not want to run with bad boys or get into something against the law(法律)to prove that he was strong．No！He must show what he was made of in a more helpful way．That would be better when he got the idea．

　　Hello，listeners．Welcome to Henton Hospital Radio．Before our music programme at four，I’m going to repeat some of our hospital rules．

　　The hospital can sleep 800 patients．There’re 8 beds in each ward．The visiting hours are in the afternoon from 2∶30 to 3∶30 and in the evening from 7∶00 to 8∶00．But remember only two people can see you at the same time．Sorry about that，but you can see what would happen if we didn’t have these rules．

　　The other rules are about our hours．We start quite early—you might not be used to that．We wake you up at 6 o’clock，and breakfast is at 8 o’clock，lunch is at noon．There’s tea at 3∶30 and supper is at 6 o’clock．

　　You can see the no smoking sign—we don’t allow smoking in the wards，I’m sure you understand why．However，if you do need to smoke，there are some smoking-rooms where it is allowed．

　　You will find the radio switch on the wall near your bed，with your own headphones，if you want to listen．It’s our own hospital radio wishing you a quick recovery．
