Popular music in America is what every student likes. Students carry small radios with earphones and listen to music before class, after class, and at lunch. Students with cars buy large speakers and play the music loudly as they drive on the street. Adult(成人) drivers listen to music on the car radio as they drive to work. Pop or popular music singers make much money. They make a CD or tape which radio stations use in many places. Once the popular singer is heard all over the country, young people buy his or her tape. Dear editor(編輯),
I live in a beautiful city. Many visitors come to my city. There are so many beautiful peacocks(孔雀) here.
The peacocks mostly live on the grass land of Dongfeng Square. Visitors give them food freely. They usually throw food to them, and don't think about at all whether the food is right or wrong. Some of the peacocks became ill, some even died after eating the bad food given by the visitors. I'm sure most of the visitors who throw food to the peacocks really like the birds, but don't realize that they may be doing them harm. The visitors should be told that what they have done is very harmful to the birds, and this kind of thing must be stopped from happening.
Perhaps we can build some small shops beside Dongfeng Square to sell peacock food. For us every person, it's our duty to give more love to these beautiful birds and to look after them carefully.
Yours,
Sun Yah

Are you carrying too much on your back at school? You're not alone. Back experts in the USA were worried that young students are having back and neck problems because they are carrying too much in their backpacks (schoolbags).
“It hurts my back when I run,” said Ebelin Reyes, a student in Virginia. “It's hard to get up the stairs with my backpack because it's too heavy. ” Students have to carry heavy backpacks on their backs for a whole week's study. Ebelin is one of them. They have regular backpacks with two straps(帶子) to carry them, but a number of students with heavy loads (負(fù)荷) have switched to rolling backpacks. The backpacks have wheels (輪子) and can roll on the ground. Shirley Park's backpack weighs (重) 10 kilos, and she said,“I'll change to a rolling backpack because I am starting to have back pain. ”
How much is too much? Experts say that students should carry no more than 10 to 15 percent (百分之……) of their own body weigh. A few students have had a good idea to lighten (減輕) the load: less homework .
Doctor's suggestions (建議):
1.Lighten the load. Take home only the books the students need that day.
2.Wide straps are better. They can send out weight over your shoulders (肩) and be sure to wear backpacks with two straps.
3.The heaviest things should be packed closest to the back.
4.Bend (彎曲) both knees when you pick up the pack, don't just bend over the waist.

A. the problems made by rolling backpacks
B. the goodness of backpacks
C. the best backpacks for students
D. how to lighten students' backpacks
(2) From what Ebelin Reyes and Shirley Park said, we know________.
[ ]
A. students have to carry heavy backpacks
B. students have to do homework
C. backpacks with wheels are bad for students
D. students have no time to play because of homework
(3) In the text“switch to” means_________.
[ ]
(4) By the words of the experts, it's better for a student of 40 kilos to carry a backpack of ________ at most.
[ ]
(5) If students follow the doctor's suggestions, they_________.
[ ]
A. may do less homework
B. may feel their backpacks are lighter
C. can learn how to enjoy themselves
D. will know how to use backpacks

four-year-old girl is lying in the arms of a doctor. She has just lost her mother. Her pink clothes are full of blood and her eyes look at something only she can see.
Every day we see pictures like this on our televisions. We see Iraqi children begging for food and water from American and British soldiers as they move through towns and cities towards the capital, Baghdad. We see these children following parents, carrying bags of almost the same size as their small bodies as they escape from their homes in Baghdad.
