你喜歡你現(xiàn)在的學(xué)習(xí)模式嗎?你滿意你的父母對(duì)你的管理方式嗎?下面我們可以看一看日本的教育狀況,看看能否對(duì)我們有所啟示?

Japanese students work very hard but many are unhappy. They feel heavy pressure from their parents to do well in school. Most students are always being told by their parents to study harder so that they can have a wonderful life. Though this may be a good idea for those very bright students, it can have terrible results for many students because they are not gifted enough.

As it is reported, a number of students kill themselves. Others try to get good feelings by taking drugs. Some join groups of trouble-makers and turn to crime. Many of them have tried very hard at school but have failed in the exams and find they have caused their parents to lose hope. Such students feel that they are hated by anyone else they meet and they don't want to go to school any longer. They become dropouts.

It is surprising that though most Japanese parents are worried about their children, they do not help them in any way. Many parents feel that they are not able to help their children and that it is the teachers' work to help their children. To make matters worse, a lot of parents send their children to schools in the evenings and on weekends. They only help students to pass exams and never teach students any real sense of the world. It is a great surprise that almost three quarters of middle school students have been to such kind of schools.

Many Japanese schools usually have rules about everything from the students' hair to their clothes and the things in their schoolbags. Child psychologists now think that such strict rules are harmful to the emotions of the students. Almost 40% of the students say that no one has taught them how to get on with others, how to tell right from wrong, or how to show love for others, even for their parents.

1.Many students are being told to study harder because ________.

[ ]

A.their parents want them to have a good life in the future

B.the schools ask their parents to do so

C.they like to do so

D.they don't work hard enough

2.The word “dropouts” in the passage probably means those students who ________.

[ ]

A.make troubles in and out of schools

B.quit going to school

C.join the groups of trouble-makers

D.lose hopes and drop some of their subjects

3.Which of the following is NOT true?

[ ]

A.Many students feel heavy pressure.

B.Heavy pressures may not be harmful to every child.

C.Parents still believe nothing is more important than school rules in Japan.

D.Most parents don't know how to help their children.

4.What would be the best title for the passage?

[ ]

A.The Trouble in Japanese Schools

B.The Problems of Japanese Students

C.The School Education in Japan

D.The Pressure of Being a Student in Japan

Times are changing, especially for the British. Afternoon tea has been part of everyday life for the British for centuries. But now Britons have discovered the joys of coffee, turning their backs on tea and rushing to the new coffee bars that have started appearing all over the country.

The advance of the coffee bar clearly reflects Continental European influence on British countries where coffee is a much greater part of the culture. The French, for example, prefer to sit in a cafe and drink cups of coffee.

The increase in high quality coffee is part of a wider trend - a growing taste for foreign food and drinks in Britain. Many Indian, Chinese, Arabic and other restaurants appear in large numbers across Britain's cities.

“A lot of it is about image, about wanting to be something that we're not,” says Jessica, the manager of one of Britain's best known coffee companies.

Yet some British people say they've become more like the rest of Europe through America. American coffee chain Starbucks has pushed the idea that enjoying a cup of coffee can compete with the tradition of afternoon tea.

However, coffee shops haven't yet been successful in winning against the pub. They have provided a pleasant new choice, but after hours the pub and beer still rule.

1.What is the trend in Britain at present?

[ ]

A.People get used to the joys of sitting in a cafe.

B.People don't like tea as much as in the past.

C.People are eager to go to pubs and bars.

D.People no longer depend on tea.

2.“Indian, Chinese, Arabic and other restaurants appearing” shows ________.

[ ]

A.people want to taste something not traditional

B.people would like to be different from others

C.people have begun to be like the rest of Europe

D.people like to increase food in high quality

3.Why does the writer say coffee shops haven't been successful in winning against the pub?

[ ]

A.Coffee shops are not traditional.

B.People enjoy other things.

C.Times are always changing.

D.The pub and beer are more popular.

Donald was not very good at math. He couldn't understand the teacher's explanations. Even when the teacher explained something a second time, Donald still could not understand it.

Donald carefully copied Brain's answers on to his own exam paper.

At the end of the exam, the teacher collected the papers and graded them.

Then she said, “Well, boys and girls, I've decided to give a prize to the student who got the highest grade. It's difficult for me to decide who to give the prize to, however, because two students, Donald and Brain, got the same grade.” “Let them share it.” one of the other students said.

“I've thought about that,” the teacher said, “but I've decided to give the prize to Brain.”

Donald was angry when he heard this.
