A little boy invited his mother to his school's first Parent's Meeting. To his disappointment (失望) ，she said she would go. This would be the first time that his classmates and teachers met his mother and he was embarrassed (造尬) by her looks. She was a beautiful woman,but there was a scar (傷on the right side of her face. The boy never asked about the scar.
At the meeting,the little boy felt bad and didn't want to see anybody. But suddenly he heard a conversation between his mother and his teacher.
“How did you get the scar on your face?” the teacher asked.
The mother replied, “(1) When my son was a baby,his room was on fire one day. Everyone was too afraid to go in,so I went in. (2) As I was toward his bed,I saw a beam (橫梁) coming down and I put
myself (我自己) over him to him. I was knocked out (擊昏) . Luckily,a fireman came in and saved
both of us." She touched the burned side of her face. “I never regretted (后;海) doing what I did."
Hearing that,the little boy came out running towards his mother with tears in his eyes. He held her hand for the rest of the day.
