In the spring of 1974, Chinese archaeologists(考古學家)made a great find in Xi'an, Shanxi Province, when they unearthed(挖掘;挖出)the pottery statues of imperial(帝國的;皇帝的)guards buried in the Tomb(墳墓)of the First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty over 2,000 years ago.The pit consists of more than seven thousand pottery warriors, horses and wooden chariots(雙輪戰(zhàn)車)in life size. The arms they hold are altogether real, and some of the swords are still very sharp. The news of the findings spread far and wide.In the past years it attracted tens of thousands of visitors including foreigners, overseas Chinese and compatriots(同胞)from all over the world to Xi'an, which boasts of having been the capital of several dynasties by the name of Chang'an since ancient times.

“貓王”的一生究竟是怎么樣的?來讀一讀這篇文章就知道了。
Elvis Presley came form a very poor family. He was born on January 8th, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi.
Elvis loved music. He went to church every Sunday and sang in the choir(唱詩班).When he was 13, his mother bought him a guitar. In the same year, Elvis and his family left Mississippi. They moved to Memphis, Tennessee.
One day in 1954 he went to the recording studio called Sun Records. He wanted to make a record for his mother's birthday. At the studio, he was found by Sam Phillips, the boss there.
Elvis was Sam Phillips's dream-“a white boy with a black voice”.Phillips became Elvis's manager, and Elvis made his first single, That's all Right, Mama. When disc jockeys played it on the radio stations, American teenagers went wild(發(fā)狂).
In 1955, Elvis appeared on TV in New York. The following year he went to Hollywood, California and made his first film, Love Me Tender. In the next two years he had many hit records-Blue Suede Shoes, Heartbreak Hotel, All Shook Up, Jailhouse Rock, and Teddy Bear.
In 1958, Elvis joined the army and went to Germany. When he returned to the United States in the early 1960s, popular music was not the same.British groups like the Beatles and the Rolling Stones were the new stars.
Elvis was very rich, but he was a very lonely man.In his last years he became fat and frustrated. He died of a heart attack on August 16th, 1977 at his large house, in Memphis.
