  E-mail English is a new kind of written English that many people use. Lots of e-mail English words look like rubbish. Usually we can’t use them. They are used in chatting online. We are supposed to type quickly, or the other person will be bored.

E-mail English uses kinds of new words. The first kind is made up of the first letters of the words in the phrase. These are called acronyms. The second one is called homophone. For example, CU means “see you”.

E-mail English is used to save time. It’s like writing riddles. We can understand it ourselves. But our friends, parents and teachers might not. E-mail English is great for writing quickly. But lots of teachers say that e-mail English should only be used in e-mail to one’s friends.
