There are two types of twins: identical(相同的)and non-identical twins.Identical twins are formed from a single egg in mother's body which divides to form two separated(分開的)babies.Identical twins look the same, and are often dressed by the parents in clothes of the same colors. It is often difficult to tell identical twins from each other, even when they are standing side by side.Non-identical twins came into being when the mother produces two separated eggs at the same time, both of which grow to from babies. In the case the twins look like normal brothers and sisters and easy to tell one from the other.
In the 1970s and 1980s a scientist did some research into twins. He invited many pairs of identical twins to university and asked them to take part in a week of tests. He was particularly interested in adopted(領(lǐng)養(yǎng))twins who had been separated, at birth. He would give the twins different kinds of tests to study their speed of thinking, their speech, their memory, the ways they saw and heard different things, and so on.Time and time again he found separated twins who preferred clothes of the same colors, used the same kind of shaving soap, wore the same shaped square glasses and the same colored socks.
There is a third type of twins, but it is a very unusual one.Twins who are joined together at birth are known in western countries as Siamese(連體)twins.

任務型閱讀:
In the countries all over the world, people are leaving the countryside in huge numbers to find jobs in the cities. They leave because the countryside is much poorer than the city, and often there isn’t much work there.Services such as hospitals and transport are usually much better in cities than they are in the country. They hope that their lives will improve when they move to the city.
But in the big cities of Europe and America-London, Paris, New York, People are moving out of the city. These are usually families who have some money, and want to live a quieter life. They are tired of the noise and the dirt of the city, tired of the crowded streets, crowded trains and buses. They don’t want to sit in traffic any more. They want a house with a garden, and clean air that isn’t polluted.
So they move out. Some don’t go very far, just a little way out of the city, to the towns near the cities.Other people move to the real countryside, with sheep and cows and green fields! There, they start new lives and try to make new friends.
Not all those who move from the city to the countryside are happy. After two or three years, many people who have done this feel that it was a big mistake. They don’t make as much money and there isn’t much to do.Country people are very different and aren’t always very friendly.
As a result, quite a lot of people who have moved to the countryside move back to the city.“It’s wonderful to see crowds in the streets and cinema lights,” they say.“I’m so glad I’m back in the city!”

Zhalong is a nature reserve in Heilongjiang in northeast China. It is one of the world’s most important wetlands. The area provides food and shelter for wildlife. It is an ideal home for different kinds of plants, fish and birds.
Many birds live comfortably in Zhalong Nature Reserve all year round, while some only stay there for a short time. There are many fish in the wetlands, and the birds can easily catch them for food. Zhalong Nature Reserve is an important living area for the rare red-crowned cranes. There are not many red-crowned cranes in the world. Some of them live in Zhalong.
Some people want to change the wetlands to make more space for farms and buildings. This means there will be less and less space for wildlife.
More and more birds are in danger because they do not have enough living space. Many of them died. The Chinese government wants to protect these endangered birds, and they can be safe in Zhalong.
Every year, a lot of tourists go to Zhalong to watch birds. This year, members of our Bird Watching Club are going to study the different kinds of birds in Zhalong and the changes in their numbers. The study begins next month.
We do a bird count once a year. We are now inviting secondary school students to help. We need more people to help us count and do something to help the birds. Many people do not understand the importance of the wetlands. We hope this information will help them understand and make them actively take action to protect wildlife.
