Do you live in a city? Do you know how cities began? Long long ago, the world had only a few thousand people. These people moved from place to place. They moved over the land, hunting animals for food.

No one knows how or when those people learned about growing food. But when they did, their lives changed. They did not have to look for food any more. They could stay in one place and grow it.

People began to live near one another. And so the first villages grew. Many people came to work in the villages. These villages grew bigger and bigger.

When people had machines, life in the village changed again. Factories were built. More and more people lived near the factories. So the villages grew into cities. Some of them grew very big.

Today, some people arc moving back to small towns. Can you tell why?

They moved over the land, hunting animals for food就可以判斷出,在城市開始之前,人們以動物為主食.

They could stay in one place and grow it得知,人們開始生活在一個固定的地方是因為他們開始種植作物的緣故.

Factories were built. More and more people lived near the factories清楚地說明,當(dāng)工廠建立的時候,越來越多的人生活在工廠附近.

There people moved from place to place. No one Knows how or when those people learned about growing food. But when they did, their lives changed這兩處信息就可以看出,人們在開始種植作物之前只得經(jīng)常搬遷.

Do you know how cities began?

How do you remember the way to your house? Where do dreams come from? It is your brain(大腦) that does these things. A British scientist showed that “sleep can improve one’s memory.” It’s not a dream for students to study when they sleep. In fact, your brains is working day and night. If you learn words before bed, a certain part of the brain may help you to remember the words while you sleep. What’s more, another scientist in the USA found that there was a “talent button(天才按鈕)” in the human brain. It might make a person more talented.

There are more interesting things about the brain. Your brain uses less energy than a fridge light. Just two bananas can give the brain enough energy to work for a whole day. According to some scientists, yawning(打哈欠) keeps our brains “cool”, which makes us think quicker.

Here are some pieces of advice to keep a good brain:

l Eat healthy food.

l Get a lot of playtime or exercise.

l Don’t drink or smoke.

l Use your brain a lot.
